Camp Hale, Colorado
Camp Hale (Colo.).
United States. Army. Mountain Division, 10th.
Ski troops.
Still from the Warner Brothers film: "The Fighting Mountaineers." Fifty Tenth Mountain Division ski troopers during training practice forming a column of twos. One line of men occupies a hill in the foreground; another group occupies a hill in the background. Men are visible climbing the farther hill, skiing down to meet in a "Y", and joining with a partner from the other group. On the near hill, men at the back of the line "snowplough" to a stop and await their turn. All the men are on skis in winter uniforms and carry knapsacks and rifles. The snow is deep and pine trees cover the hills in the distance. Taken on the descent from Eagle Ridge near Camp Hale, Colorado.

Camp Hale Ordnance Cleanup May Take Years
Camp Hale (Colo.).
United States. Army. Mountain Division, 10th.
Military training camps.
A 2002 article discussing Camp Hale ordnance (mines and unexploded munitions) and the length of time it will take officials to clean it all up. The nationwide cleanup program is described as underfunded, which could cause serious delays in recovering and safely disposing of the ordnance which could be spread out as far a 250,000 acres around the site of Camp Hale, especially in areas currently experiencing population increase.
