His father Vic Ecklund served with the 10th Mountain Division from 1942-45. The National Association of the 10th Mountain Division held a memorial service, Monday Aug 6, 2007 at 10th Mountain Division Monument at Tennessee Pass, before taking a tour of Camp Hale.
